Schoolhouse Teachers
What an infinite amount of information…

Where to begin? is just an abundant source of information for any homeschooling family. Presented by the Old Schoolhouse Magazine, SchoolhouseTeachers is an explosion of “stuff” from assignments for your students, to teacher materials, to daily planners!  See samples of the “stuff” I’m talking about here!  My family has truly enjoyed every minute we’ve spent using this website.

Each section, whether it be lapbooking, chemistry, or figures in history, has all of the lesson plans from the previous months.  So if this is August, you’re still going to have access to April, May,  June and July ideas.  A virtual treasure trove of thoughts and ideas!

And did I mention you get complimentary copies of The Old Schoolhouse magazine?  Current digital copies as well as digital back issues of the magazine!

And…there are things upon things to download and print if you so choose.  Things like copywork, dinosaurs, back to school bookmarks, and helpful articles.

There are numerous teacher experts like Kimm Bellotto, Joy Sikorski, and Diana Waring that lead the way with information, lesson plans and ideas.  This site is extensive enough to be used as your sole curriculum or for the great price you can use it just to fill in the gaps or for extension activities in your homeschool.  Their tagline is “Blended learning. Innovative Education.”  This is just what they deliver.  Face-to-face learning with mom and dad combined with a side of technology.

How we used the program:

My favorite part was the lapbooking.  No wait, the planners.  No really, it was the music lesson plans.  How can I know?  Everything on this website is fabulous!  The planners were extensive.  The planners are not just calendars.  Any chart or list you can think of is included in the planners section. From what not to do again to a buy/sell/swap list, the homeschooling section is amazing!  But there’s more than just homeschooling in the planners.  There’s also household lists like homekeeping and financial stewardship and Bible reading and, and and…the list goes on and on.  I can’t think of anything that got left out that I need to keep track of.

The lessons were also phenomenal!  Just log on and print lesson plans galore for almost any topic for any grade level.  For example, we loved the music lessons and they were written for the entire family to enjoy.  The lesson plans had plenty of YouTube recommendations so we all got to hear the songs the teacher was discussing.  It was really just as good as having purchased curriculum with a CD!  I was very impressed.

  • One subscription is enough for the entire family.  You don’t have to pay extra for each additional child who uses the program.
  • An infinite amount of material is available.
  • The daily’s.  Daily grammar, daily math, daily writing, this day in history, etc.  Love them!

My opinion?  You can’t go wrong with a subscription.  You can spend your money in a lot of places and be disappointed, but spending $5.95 for a whole month’s subscription at will NOT be one of those disappointments.  Try it out for $1!  You’ll be so excited and overwhelmed, just like me!
