Father – Daughter Date Night at Chick-Fil-A

October 26, 2010

With research showing the benefits of dads spending ample time with their daughters, many families have introduced daddy-daughter date nights as a regular activity.  I was pleased to learn recently that my local Chick-Fil-A likes to help out with this sort of occasion.  Every 4th Friday evening, daughters eat free when they come in with their dads for an evening “date night” meal.

It’s just a little bit of money saved, but I really like the gesture that Chick-Fil-A is making by providing this opportunity. Hopefully it will encourage those who haven’t thought of sharing a date night with their daughters to do so and perhaps save those that make it a regular occurrence a few dollars.

You’ll need to check with your local store to see if they participate in this or a similar event.

What are some of your favorite “date nights” with your kids?

I clip the “buy one milkshake, get one free” coupons from Steak ‘n’ Shake. They have a location near several large stores where I often take my 5-year-old shopping, so after hours of, “Come on, stay next to me!… No, we can’t buy that….” I can whip out a coupon and offer him a treat! The coupon usually works with a limited number of milkshake flavors, which makes things easier by sparing us a big array of choices. The whole thing costs about $5 including tip, he gets a paper car to fold while we’re waiting and some stickers, the shakes are yummy, and they’re so filling that we can delay our next meal while we put away the shopping and rest!

I remember going on “dates” with my Dad when I was little. It was so special and the memories still stick with me. Your daughter is very blessed!

When our oldest son is a little older, we want to start taking him on “dates” too. I can see the park or a bike trail being a big hit with him.

This is super helpful information. Our children are still very young, but it is good to think of ways to take them out on “dates”! Thank you!

I love the idea of date nights with our kids! Our first son is only 7 weeks, but I’m already looking forward to mom and son dates!

I take my daughter to the bookstore with me or to Starbucks for a special treat. She’s 13 and we both love to read. It’s a nice thing to share. We have also made weekly trips to the library in the past but I now have one year old twins so that’s on hold. I know my husband is already looking forward to “dates” with our twin girls. Right now, we’re just happy to find time to go on dates with each other!

Yet ANOTHER reason to appreciate Chick-Fil-A. What a great way to impact the community and build up our families! We love going to Chick-Fil-A as a special treat (which lead us to adopt the term Chick-hooray from Rachel at Small Notebook).
